We love our dog Harrison and guests staying at the Captain Freeman Inn are always amazed at his personality, which is both friendly and quiet all at the same time. I have always believed in a diet that was natural and healthy and have been an advocate of the farm to table movement on Cape Cod. The other day I read an article about the awful ingredients that went into most dog goodies……I just decided to throw out the old goodies for Harrison and in with the new- all organic homemade dog bones! Only the best for our pooch. Just had to share the recipe for all of those dog loving guests reading this blog.

Pumpkin Dog Biscuits

2 eggs

1/2 cup pumpkin

2 Tablespoons dry milk

1/4 teaspoon salt

2 1/2 cup brown rice flour

1 teaspoon dried parsley

Preheat oven to 350

In a large bowl, whisk together eggs and pumpkin until smooth. Stir in the dry milk, salt and dried parsley. Add brown rice flour gradually, combining with a spatula or hands to form a stiff, dry dough. Turn onto lightly floured surface and lightly knead unto three balls.

Roll dough between 1/4- 1/2″ depending on your dog’s chew preference:) Cut with a cookie cutter- we like to use a dog bone cutter. Place on cookie sheet, no greasing necessary. Pierce with a fork imprint.

Bake 20 minutes each side.

Makes about 50 medium biscuits.

Harrison is very happy!
